About this edition

The invitation, continued.

An independent editorial edition built around the surviving early pages of bigorangetarp.com.

The collection

This journal contains eight newly published long-form articles. Three explore recovered event and showcase documents; the other five develop their themes through listening, participation, hosting and keeping a useful music record. Every new article is dated 16 October 2026 and links to the source documents that prompted it.

The recovered pages

A Wayback CDX inventory returned 5,502 HTML records. Checking the early home-page versions recovered a Baltimore concert announcement, a post-concert follow-up, a NERFA programme, a NAFA-labelled Folk Alliance programme and a temporary site-status notice. The source collection preserves all recovered text, including the long showcase programme, separately from the new articles.

Dates and evidence

Capture dates identify saved versions of a page, not necessarily their first publication date or an event date. Programmes document scheduled appearances; they are not treated as recordings or eyewitness confirmation of every performance. The advertised Baltimore concert date is stated in its source as 18 May 2002.

What remains missing

The original GrooveLily photograph returned non-image content from the restored asset address. No image capture was returned by the pre-2006 image inventory. The external photo album and earlier AlanRowoth.com page could not be retrieved. The new canopy artwork is an illustration, not a recovered concert photograph.

A historical journal

This edition does not sell tickets, take reservations or operate the old mailing list. Archived booking details and artist links are historical records. For a separate account of the wider Big Orange Tarp community, see The Folk Project's community page.
