Udupi: Temporary Traffic Diversion on NH-66 for Overpass Construction
The National Highway-66 at Katapady Junction in Udupi will experience temporary traffic diversions due to ongoing overpass construction. This measure aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the project period. The project director of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Mangaluru has requested a temporary diversion and issued a notification for alternate routes for vehicles.
The district administration has issued an order outlining the following traffic arrangements for public convenience and safety.
Heavy and goods vehicles traveling from Udupi towards Mangaluru will use the designated track within the work-zone area.
Heavy and goods vehicles traveling from Mangaluru towards Udupi will also use the specified track within the work-zone area.
Express and shuttle buses, private vehicles, and other public transport moving from Mangaluru towards Udupi will take the route via Kallapu, drop and pick up passengers at Katapady town, and rejoin NH-66 through the Forest Gate route.
Heavy vehicles or lorries from Shirva towards Udupi will use the Moodubelle–Dendurkatte–Alevur route.
Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and light vehicles from Shirva towards Udupi will use the Udupi–Mangaluru service road and join the main NH-66 at the open median point.
Light vehicles moving from Mattu towards Udupi will take the Old Katapady Road, reach the Forest Gate Junction, and then join the Mangaluru–Udupi National Highway.
Light vehicles traveling from Mattu towards Mangaluru will take the Old Katapady Road, reach the Forest Gate Junction, and then use the Udupi–Mangaluru Highway service road.
Vehicles in urgent need of reaching Mangaluru Airport will be given priority to use alternative routes.
Additionally, parking is strictly prohibited within a 100-meter distance on all approach roads to the worksite, including Mangaluru Road, Udupi Road, Mattu Road, and Shirva Road.
The administration urges all motorists to cooperate and adhere to the diversion routes to ensure smooth traffic management and the successful completion of the overpass project.
